instant happiness technique

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4: 4-6

Apostle Paul wrote this letter to Philippians while in jail. And what he is telling them to do? Rejoice!

Paul was thrown in prison numerous times, flogged severey, faced death on many, yet he kept his eyes on heaven, trusting God and “rejoicing greatly in the Lord”.

How can we rejoice even when fasing seemingly insurmountable obstacles and challenges? Try to start every day with sincere gratitude and count your blessings. Write them down, text them to your child, a spouse or a friend. If you are so short on time that and can not write down a list of your blessings- ran them through your mind a few times. It works! It changes your mood and attitude, only don’t just count the blessings, feel the gratitude in your gut!

Put a smile on your face, even if all you can do at first is grin. If you are alone in your room or a car try to giggle or laugh. Yes, I know, it sounds and looks silly, but believe me, it works wonders. Make your body go through physical motions of being joyous and grateful, it still remembers how it feels to be happy!

Lord created you in an amazing way. If you just stand up looking straight ahead with a smile on your face it will be very hard to feel depressed or anxious. It takes effort to change your mood through body postures and facial expression, yet it is possible. Breath deeply, pray for a miracle of joy, cast your troubles to your Creator, and live this day joyfully.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
